Manchester United: Fans didn’t understand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to sub Daniel James

Manchester United fans could not understand why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to take off Daniel James in their defeat to AFC Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The Red Devils were in need of a goal as former academy prospect Josh King put the hosts in front just before the half-time whistle, which led to the manager making some tactical substitutions (WhoScored).

Jesse Lingard was the first to be introduced when he replaced Andreas Pereira, however it was one part of the double substitution that Solskjaer made that appeared to have some fans question just exactly what their boss was doing.

Brandon Williams may have replaced Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but it was the decision to replace James with Mason Greenwood that left supporters in disarray on Twitter.

Many of them could not understand why Solskjaer had decided to take the Wales international off when they were looking for an equaliser, which is, perhaps, understandable.

The 21-year-old has been having a solid debut season for the Red Devils and has already managed to bag himself three goals and two assists in his 11 Premier League outings (WhoScored) leaving him joint-second in the club’s goalscoring standings.

Fans slammed Solskjaer for his decision to take James off with many of them appearing to suggest the Norwegian is out of his depth at the helm.

Here are just some of their reactions…
