Manchester United have been linked with Leicester City playmaker James Maddison for the majority of the year.
Will James Maddison be a Leicester player next season?
There were strong rumours suggesting the 22-year-old would be heading to Old Trafford during the summer, though as it transpired, it was his teammate Harry Maguire who headed north instead.
That is not to say that a deal for Maddison is off the cards for the Red Devils, who are in desperate need of a creative ball player to link play between midfield in attack.
Jesse Lingard simply isn’t cutting the mustard at Old Trafford – proven by the fact that the 26-year-old has failed to score or assist in six league appearances for United this season (via Transfermarkt).
Fans are crying out for a player of Maddison’s stature to arrive at the club next year, with Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish also mentioned as a potential target for the 20-time English champions.
No player created more chances in the Premier League (100), than the Leicester playmaker last season, according to Opta.
Reports on Twitter, courtesy of credible football journalist David Ornstein, now suggest that Maddison could well be on his way to the north west of England within the next year, however.
Here’s how United fans reacted to that news..
