A number of Manchester United supporters are hopeful after an update regarding the club's interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Ralf Rangnick has made a strong start to life as United manager, winning his opening two Premier League matches, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is wholly satisfied with his squad.

It could be that he delves into the transfer market in January in order to enhance his team's chances of a top-four finish and going far in the Champions League.

One player who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford is De Jong, who is reportedly unhappy at Barca and may want a fresh challenge.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, there have been 'no negotiations' regarding a January move 'as things stand'.
