Manchester United: Fans react to Harry Maguire’s comments

Harry Maguire made history in the summer when he joined Manchester United from Leicester City for £80m.

The Englishman officially became the world’s most expensive defender when he moved to Old Trafford, and although his new club currently find themselves in dire straits at this early stage of the campaign, his personal performances have been promising.

United fell to another humiliating defeat against Newcastle on Sunday, however, rounding off a string of poor performances for the Red Devils in recent weeks.

Fans have now turned on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with many calling for his replacement, while the players have also come in for some deserved stick for their performances on the pitch.

Maguire believes that the team will improve in the long run, though, telling he club’s official magazine Inside United (via Daily Mail)

“It’s the long term, that’s what the main thing is.

“In five or six years, judge me then – whether I have been a success at this club or not.

“I do believe and am really confident that, in five or six years, I’ll be a success and I am sure we’ll have many, many good times here.

“We need to keep improving as a team, not just me as an individual. I feel, if we improve as a team, I’ll be a success too.”

Here’s how some United fans reacted to those comments on Twitter:
