Manchester United: Fans give hostile response to transfer report

Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to react to news of potential signings after reports from the Manchester Evening News state the club are willing to splash the cash in the new year.

The reports have suggested United will allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to delve into the market this January, with the Norwegian desperate to sign a midfielder after the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in the summer.

The Red Devils missed out on replacing such departing players, having been linked with Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff , Sporting Lisbon hero Bruno Fernandes and Spurs star Christian Eriksen throughout the window, however, the M.E.N believes Solskjaer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodard met earlier this month to discuss their winter targets.

Indeed, United’s business was quite topsy-turvy during the summer with the additions of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire slightly overshadowing the fact Solskjaer let nine first-team players leave including their top scorer over the last two seasons, Romelu Lukaku.

In the midfield, Nemanja Matic is one of just five senior central midfielders aged over 26, with the Serbian and Fred the only two not to come from United’s academy out of the lot.

So how did United fans react to this news?
