Manchester United fans took to Twitter to slam Pogba after horror miss

Yesterday saw Manchester United presented with a golden chance to top their Champions League group. All they had to do was win in Valencia seeing as Juventus lost against Young Boy, but a 2-1 defeat left them 2nd. It could have gone so differently, though, had Paul Pogba managed to find the net from a matter of yards away when the score was just 1-0.

The Manchester United Twitter account dumbed down the miss a tad in their explanation, but it truly was a shocker. Paul Pogba was waiting at the near post as Andreas Perreira whipped in a delightful corner. The outswinging ball was always going to need two touches to turn it into a goal, and after the initial header found its way to Pogba, unmarked at the front-post with the net gaping, he could only put his half-volley into the side netting.

If Pogba could have found the net and forced United back into the game then he would have gone some way to winning back his critics. The Frenchman looks like he’s playing in shackles at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho has got him under lock and key and when he plays for his national team he’s a different player, although this is all common knowledge for the Red Devils and as far they’re concerned, the miss in Spain just summed up their season so far. Dreadful. Painful. Forgettable.
