Erling Braut Haaland stole the show on Tuesday night, as RB Leipzig thrashed Belgian side Genk 6-2.
The game was effectively over by half-time, however, with the score standing at 5-1 thanks to a stunning first-half hat-trick from the 19-year-old striker, who took his tally for the season to 17 goals in all competitions.
So, having worked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde, recent reports from the Manchester Evening News do suggest that the prospect of joining the club came up in 2018, though the players’ family history with the Red Devils means he’s probably not the ‘biggest fan of the club’.
Indeed, his father is Alf Inge Haaland, the player famously fouled by Roy Keane while playing for Manchester City in 2001, and has previously said he disliked the Old Trafford giants, per the Mirror. Still, speaking to TV2, his dad has seemingly eased up on his feelings towards United and did speak about the prospect of his son joining.
“It would be nice,” he said.
“It is important to distinguish between being a supporter and a job.
“So I have a very relaxed relationship with that. It’s a little different when it’s serious.”
As a result, many United fans have urged their club to sign the Scandinavian wonderkid.
Bring him home Ole.
