Jesse Lingard is struggling for form at the minute, there’s no denying that.
The England international has averaged just 0.8 key passes, 1 dribble and 0.5 shots on goal per game so far this season, via WhoScored.
The 26-year-old has not been involved in a single goal for United since December 2018, making his continued inclusion in the starting line-up at Old Trafford a somewhat confusing one.
Lingard was finally dropped from the team against Southampton, with Juan Mata taking his place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI at St Mary’s. He was introduced as a second-half substitute on the south coast, however, but couldn’t help his side gain all three points after Jannik Vestergaard’s 58th-minute header rescued a draw for the hosts.
The midfielder’s recent performances have sparked debate among United supporters on Twitter, with @UnitedStandMUFC posing this question to its 173,000-strong follower base: “Is Lingard a first-team starter, a bench player, or should the club sell him?”
The results speak for themselves…

Only answer is sell him

Can’t sell him. No one will want him.

Time to move him on. Good servant for the club but he’s approaching 27. We will most likely buy a no10 in the summer and already have Gomes. Jesse is decent but wouldn’t get into City or Liverpool’s squad and that should be the standard to aim for.

I think it might be time. Great replacement would be James Maddison

Can’t believe there are actually 3% who think he’s a first teamer, he’s championship quality at best

Get rid of him. He offers absolutely nothing bar some flashy dance moves on the very odd occasion he scores a goal. If it wasn’t for his dancing and social media account, nobody would give a damn about him. He’s not United calibre, even in the current state!
