Manchester United: Fans were delighted that Anthony Martial started up front against Perth Glory

Manchester United fans took to Twitter to share their delight prior to the club’s friendly against Perth Glory on Saturday when they learnt Anthony Martial would be starting upfront.

The match kicked off their tour of Australia and it seems a number of the club’s supporters were in favour of the position that the France international was to be deployed in.

Martial has not quite reached the heights many of those at Old Trafford would have hoped for when he joined the Premier League giants from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in the summer of 2015.

He has scored 48 times in 174 appearances for United, however, last season was a rather poor campaign for him as he managed to record just 12 goals in 38 matches.

Whether he will be able to occupy the position for good throughout the season remains to be seen, although Martial’s chances would significantly improve should Romelu Lukaku leave the club this summer, although that appears doubtful at the moment (Sky Sports).

A number of fans have previously called for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to use the 23-year-old as the focal point of the attack and it appears they got their wish.

Here are just some of their reactions…
