When I realise that the group are Manchester United supporters I wonder if it’s because they’ve failed to win another match, however it’s more the breaking transfer news that has left them disappointed this time around.
The reports come from the Daily Star who claim that Manchester United have ended their plans to sign Borussia Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski.
United have been keep watch over the Polish international, who is out of contract in the summer, and reportedly saw an £18 million bid turned down earlier last year when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of the club.
However now his successor David Moyes has decided that Lewandowski is not on his transfer radar after he told United bosses that he does not require another out and out striker. This could indicate that England ace Wayne Rooney will pen a new deal with the club with talks set to begin January.
A club source told the paper: “Lewandowski has been a target but the new manager can’t see where he would fit into the team. Other areas of the squad need strengthening and so the manager has turned his back on Lewandowski so the manager has turned his back on Lewandowski once and for all.”
That leaves the path clear for the Polish star to sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich in January as the striker joins up with Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.
