Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are interested in news from Germany today as Bild report that Manchester United target Mesut Ozil could be allowed to leave Real Madrid for around £38 million following the expected arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
The Germany international is said to be worried about losing match time after the Welsh international makes his long awaited transfer to the Bernabeu and that could see him looking for a possible switch during the rest of the transfer window.
A potential destination for the 24-year-old is Old Trafford as David Moyes still seeks a top quality midfield addition to his side after failing to capture Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona earlier this summer.
Ozil, who joined Madrid in 2010, sees his starting berth under severe threat following the expected signing of Bale plus the summer transfer of Spanish starlet Isco and the former Werder Bremen player is reportedly keen to find a new club before the deadline passes at the start of September.
Madrid will now be willing to sell the supremely talented midfielder for around £35 million which would be a club record fee for the Red Devils but he still remains a possible option for Moyes as he seeks to bolster his midfield during the current transfer window.
Gareth Bale should be confirmed as a Madrid player by the beginning of next week and that could open up plenty of surplus players at the Bernabeu as Madrid try to recoup some of the record breaking fee paid for the former Southampton player.
