Manchester United fans have been sweating in the Transfer Tavern this morning after it emerged one of their star player’s has picked up an injury problem on international duty.
The Evening Standard reported that Anthony Martial left Wembley last night on crutches, following France’s 2-0 defeat to England, and pictures confirming the reports were subsequently shared around social media.
19-year-old Martial was withdrawn in the 66th minute of the international friendly after picking up the problem, though France boss Didier Deschamps has lessened the concerns of United fans by stating it’s a minor knock.
“He is feeling quite a bit of pain… but I think it is just a knock to the top of his foot.”
United will understandably monitor the situation as the week progresses, ahead of a crucial run of fixtures that sees them play PSV Eindhoven, Leicester City and West Ham in the space of two weeks.
With five goals in his first 14 appearances in a Red Devils jersey, any absence of Martial will provide a significant blow to United’s options going forward.
United fans, has Martial proved his worth already? What are you expecting from him now? Let us know in the comments below!
