There is drama here as it is claimed in the Daily Express that Manchester United are set to join the race for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.
The player has long been courted by both Chelsea and Real Madrid and certainly looks set to leave current club Atletico Madrid this summer. Given that the hitman is one of the top strikers around it is no shock that more than one club are after the 27-year-old but given that United already boast the likes of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney on their books, it is slightly surprising that they are considering a £42 million move for the Colombian international.
Spanish newspaper Marca – the fountain of all truth and reliability in Madrid, much like the Daily Mail in England – have reliably claimed that the Red Devils have already made a down payment on the forward and he is ‘just a step away’ from joining Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
This news of course will cast further speculation over the future of Wayne Rooney who of course was left out of the starting line-up against Real Madrid in Europe and has faced rumours over his future ever since.
