It has been a busy day for Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and Metro aren’t giving them a second to rest after suggesting the Red Devils have seen a massive £26 million bid rejected by Valencia.
The La Liga side have confirmed they have rejected a bid for Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi and whilst the club have not been specifically named, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, it is Manchester United who are keen on landing Los Che’s defensive linchpin.
It is clear that Manchester United need defensive reinforcements to come into Old Trafford this winter and shore things up at the back.
Despite Louis van Gaal recently claiming that he may just wait until the end of the season to bring someone in, we think that Otamendi could well be the perfect stop gap until the Red Devils can really splash the cash in the summer.
That said, one of our other Red Devils fanatics pipes up and notes that if a £26 million player is seen as a stop gap, that can only imagine how much they could spend on a marquee addition in the summer.
Manchester United fans. Do you think that Otamendi is the player for you? Do you think that £26 million is too much money for a player who has only been at Valencia for a year? Let us know your thoughts below.
