There are a number of rather merry Manchester United in the The Football Transfer Tavern this morning.
It seems that the drinking went long into the night after they watched Robin van Persie smash a hat-trick against Olympiakos to ensure an unlikely progression into the last eight of the Champions League.
It will probably help keep David Moyes’ job safe until at least the end of the season with pressure seriously mounting on the former Everton boss before the match.
Now Moyes can look ahead to the future with David McDonnell from The Mirror claiming that United are plotting a £15 million offer for Everton full back Seamus Coleman.
It seems that Moyes is ready to raid his old club again after landing Marouane Felliani from Goodison Park in the summer while he wanted to sign Leighton Baines but the England international decided to reject his advances to remain with the Merseyside club.
McDonnell explains that the Red Devils’ interest in the Republic of Ireland man is long-term with some sources indicating that an outlined transfer agreement is in place.
Moyes was the man who gave Coleman his chance in England, signing him from League of Ireland outfit Sligo Rovers in 2008, since helping him develop into one of the finest right backs in the Premier League.
United currently have Rafael, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling who can play on the right side of defence but all three have not been convincing this term, with Coleman looking like a suitable addition at Old Trafford.
Arsenal are also thought to hold an interest in the 25-year-old, but Moyes could use his existing relationship to persuade him to join the Old Trafford club this summer.
