With no Premier League fixture this weekend it has been a time to reflect for Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern on what has been a troubled season for their side.
Qualification for the Champions League looks almost out of the question with United 12 points behind Manchester City in fourth, but the Citizens also have games in hand.
That could make it a fundamental summer for the Red Devils and David Moyes as the under-pressure former Everton boss seems to rebuild the legacy at Old Trafford.
There is a new transfer target on the agenda this morning for the Red Devils to get their teeth into as Metro report that Moyes is planning a summer move for PSV Eindhoven right back Santiago Arias.
The Colombian international has reportedly replaced Everton’s youngster Seamus Coleman at the top of his summer wishlist as Moyes looks for a solid right sided defender.
United scouts have been impressed by the pace and power of 22-year-old Arias, who previously played for Sporting Lisbon, and they could move quickly to sign him for £8 million before he stars for his country in this year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Coleman was on the radar but his club are playing hardball as they did over Leighton Baines and it looks unlikely that the classy Irish defender will join the Old Trafford club in the summer.
We have to admit that this sounds a genuine transfer target for United but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
