It is a well discussed fact in the Football Transfer Tavern that Manchester United are set for a very busy summer in the transfer market.
The Red Devils have suffered a woeful season under new boss David Moyes and that could see the under-pressure manager seeking to significantly freshen up his squad at the end of the season.
However today Mail Online is indicating that Moyes is looking at one position we thought was sorted as they suggest that United are scouting Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic ahead of a possible summer bid.
The former Everton gaffer reportedly sent his goalkeeping coach Chris Woods to the Britannia Stadium in recent weeks to watch the Bosnian, including their 1-0 victory over Arsenal where Begovic impressed.
It’s not the first time that a major club has been linked with Begovic and there were thoughts he could depart last summer with Sir Alex Ferguson demonstrating strong interest but instead he remained with the Potteries club.
This interest appears to have been maintained under Moyes as the Red Devils look for a suitable replacement if David De Gea decides to return to La Liga.
Real Madrid are thought to be favourites for the 23-year-old’s signature and there have been reports that a ‘deal’ has been put in place to take the Spanish keeper to the Bernabeu.
If De Gea leaves we’d say that Begovic is a suitable back-up option for United but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
