There is a rather interesting race for Edinson Cavani and Metro have enthralled us here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication claims that whilst Manchester United are still hopeful of landing the forward, they will face a huge amount of competition, with Manchester City and Chelsea hot on their heels.
Chelsea’s forward issues have been well documented this season, with Jose Mourinho even lamenting the selection himself.
City meanwhile are conscious of the fact that Edin Dzeko is hot property and may choose to leave should the offer of regular first team football arrive from another top club in Europe.
Both Chelsea and City are able to offer the ‘unhappy’ PSG forward – who scored the only goal for the Ligue 1 side on Friday night to send them 13 points clear at the top of the table – the lure of Champions League football, and the chance to win titles.
As our punters quip, that is not something United can currently offer, and who knows if their manager David Moyes will even be in charge at the start of next season.
Cavani himself has claimed that United are in ‘decline’ yet would consider a move to Chelsea or City should either come calling.
How much longer do you think the Uruguayan forward will last playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Let us know your thoughts below.
