Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are sat watching the closest television set as new signing Juan Mata is paraded to the world.
After suffering just frustration since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes has finally landed one of his prime transfer targets and to that the Red Devils fans have raised their pints in celebration.
However reports have emerged today from The Telegraph that have again left the United fans concerned about their club’s already bleak chances of success this term.
Mark Ogden from the paper has arrived to tell punters that Michael Carrick is set for a spell on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage.
This blow has reportedly seen Moyes considering potential midfield reinforcements with previous target, Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin again appearing on his radar.
The 27-year-old Inter Milan man had earlier been linked with a January switch to Old Trafford, but a deal was put in place to see him instead moving to Juventus.
However this proposed swap deal with Juve striker Mirko Vucinic collapsed at the last moment and that has left the explosive box-to-box player in limbo with his services clearly not required at the San Siro.
Inter are thought to value Guarin at around £10 million, but could be prepared to do a deal if United include Javier Hernandez in exchange.
Negotiations are expected to get underway at the weekend as Moyes steps up his transfer activity with just a week to go before the deadline shuts.
