It was only recently in the Football Transfer Tavern we were linkingManchester City with a move for Alexis Sanchez and now today IBTimes claim that their cross-city rivals Manchester United may also make a move for the forward.
Sanchez has been increasingly unhappy at Barcelona this season and has felt more and more on the fringes of things at the club leading him to consider a move elsewhere. Given that Barcelona seem set on keeping David Villa now they are willing to consider a move away for the Chilean international forward should the right offer come in and Sir Alex Ferguson is considering making a bid.
United may have a world class strike force but in recent weeks Wayne Rooney has been linked with a move away from the club along with Javier Hernandez who has been looked at by both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, meaning that there could well be a vacancy in the front four at Old Trafford come next season.
Despite being all but officially crowned Premier League champions this term, Fergie is not one to rest on his laurels and a more successful assault on Europe next season is something the manager knows must happen and he feels that Sanchez could well be the icing on the cake in order to do that – well as one of our punters quips, that and a referee who knows what he is doing!
Will United bid for Sanchez? Do they even need him? Rate this rumour below.
