Manchester United could be set to lose goalkeeper David de Gea for nothing, with Juventus looking to open talks with the Spaniard in January ahead of a summer move.
De Gea has thus far refused to sign a new contract with the Red Devils in protracted talks which has so far failed to yield a resolution for either club or player.
And now The Express is reporting that Italian giants Juventus are looking to snap up de Gea as they look to further strengthen what is already a strong squad which includes the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt.
De Gea has found himself under pressure in the last 12 months, although a report earlier in the year showed that he had only actually made two errors leading directly to goals at that point.
The Spaniard has been a regular for United even since making his move to the club back in 2011. Despite winning the United Player of the Year award on more than one occasion during his time at Old Trafford, de Gea only managed seven clean sheets last season as he conceded 51 goals in the process.
United have known all along the risk of losing de Gea on a free is something which was an option if they failed to tie him down to a new deal, and this latest report looks like the worst case scenario could be coming true for United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
This has lingered on for so long now and it is amazing a club the size of United has not managed to tie down de Gea to a new deal.
If he does move to Juventus, it only adds more quality to a squad which is already full of brilliant players.
