Manchester United left reeling as Real Madrid tell Mourinho this key man isn’t for sale

Manchester United have been one of the Premier League’s big spenders this summer as Jose Mourinho spends big-money in an attempt to bring his Red Devils squad up to speed ahead of the new campaign.

Of course, his marquee signing has been the addition of Romelu Lukaku, who came in from Everton earlier in the window. But there’s thought amongst some Red Devils fans here in the pub that one more player would really do the trick as Mourinho attempts to mount a push for the title.

And there’s one man the Red Devils were linked with earlier this window and that was Gareth Bale. But any chance of signing the Welshman now appears to have been dashed after Bale was told by manager Zinedine Zidane that he is the future of the club.

According to the Independent, Madrid are now no longer interested in moving on the former Spurs star and he’s very much a vital part of plans moving forward at the Bernabeu.

Of course, much of any potential deal would have depended on the funds United had at their disposal to bring in Bale but with Madrid now not interested in selling, this could be a very difficult one to get over the line for Mourinho.

Bale spent much of last season on the sidelines but has enjoyed a full pre-season as he looks to have a real impact in the Madrid team this campaign.

Landlord’s Verdict

Bale is one of the world’s best and Zinedine Zidane would be foolish to sell him on, especially now Barcelona are a weaker outfit having sold Neymar.

Madrid really didn’t see the best from the Welshman last season because of injury but if he can get back to his best through a solid pre-season campaign, he could be devastating.

United can try but this is going to be tough.
