The Punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are delighted about this news…
Gary Neville’s exploits with Valencia were well documented in the British press, with the fan-favourite Man Utd legend leaving the club just a few months after joining – after a disappointing tenure at the helm.
Such is Neville’s popularity in the Tavern, a number of those leaning alongside the bar have recently been discussing what is next in the Englishman’s career, given the end of his tenure with Valencia and the end of his time coaching with the England national side.
A return to punditry was expected, and hoped for, on the short-term – but the good news for a number of the punters in the Tavern is that he looks set to return for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to Guillem Balague for Sky Sports show Revista Bitesize, Gary Neville has revealed that he won’t be returning to coaching for the next few years at the very least.
Elaborating, Neville confirmed that: “It will be very difficult for me to go back into coaching because of my commitment now to so many different things”, citing his commitment to Salford City, Hotel Football and high-end restauranteering.
Neville has become a favourite here in the Football Transfer Tavern for his punditry and commentary. This little compilation details exactly what we’re talking about…
Whilst Neville didn’t explicitly mention that he will continue to foray into work for Sky, our landlord thinks it’s safe to assume he will remain to continue commentary duties for the season ahead at least.
What do you think? Pleased to see Neville stay away from coaching for a while?
