Manchester United line up £50m transfer replacement

Edinson CavaniManchester United fans are wondering what David Moyes can do to improve matters in the summer.

The Red Devils will miss out on qualification for the Champions League after a ‘transition’ season at Old Trafford for the former Everton man.

Now Mail Online gives us some indication of one of their major transfer targets as they report that Moyes want to sign Edinson Cavani with the paper suggesting that the club are chasing a host of ‘platinum players’.

We would have thought a transfer would be unlikely as the club won’t have Champions League football but the speculation insists that Chief Executive Ed Woodward has been given the green light to beat Manchester City and Chelsea to the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

Cavani only joined the mega-bucks French club last summer, but already wants to leave. It is likely that United would have to pay over £50 million to land the Uruguayan forward with wages around £300,000-a-week.

Any move for Cavani could see the departure for Robin van Persie with the Dutch ace frustrated with the club’s lack of progress during the last season.

Can you see the PSG striker heading to Old Trafford or should they keep RVP instead? Let us know your thoughts below.
