Mirror Football journalist Alan Nixon has arrived with news that Manchester United boss David Moyes is lining up an offer for Polish sensation Karol Linetty, who has been labelled ‘the new Luka Modric’.
The former Everton manager sent United representatives to watch Lech Poznan’s young creative midfielder last weekend after hearing about his talents in recent weeks.
Nixon explained how Linetty was only used as a second half substitute, much to the frustration of the 40 different scouts who were there to keep an eye on his progress.
That is unlikely to put off United, who want to beat a host of European sides to land the 18-year-old that has been described as one of the best youth products in football,.
But that will not put off United, who want him in January if he is put up for sale. Skillful, but slight, Linetty has marched through the ranks at just 18 and Moyes is desperate not to miss out.
The Poland youth international midfielder is regarded as a clever, effective player, who can feature in either defensive or more attacking roles.
An offer of around £4 million could be enough to sign the teenager as Moyes continues his strategy of signing up the finest young talent to long-term contracts at Old Trafford.
