The Daily Express says the Red Devils are keen to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signature of Marko Grujic, who they dub as the ‘new Nemanja Matic’ in their headline.
Currently at Red Star Belgrade, the 19-year-old talent would cost £3m and United see him as a long-term successor to Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger, as the teenager has been vastly impressing scouts over the past month.
The Serbia U21 international is highly-rated, likened to Chelsea star Matic after his nation’s success at the U20 World Cup in the Summer, but it’s added the Blues lead the chase for his signature due to their links with the Serbian outfit.
Fans at the bar believe United would be better for his long-term development though, as they accuse Jose Mourinho of not giving youngsters a chance at Stamford Bridge- a claim that’s left the Chelsea fans quiet.
Which club would be a better fit for Grujic? Let us know in the comments below!
