There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara is finally ready to admit defeat at the club and move to the Premier League.
This news of course has made Manchester United fans sit up and take note as they have been tracking the player for more than a little while now. Thiago has tried and tried to break into the first team squad at the Camp Nou and despite playing bit part roles has thus far failed to make any major impact.
One thing that is very clear is the player is full of talent and it is no shock whatsoever that Sir Alex Ferguson is after the midfielder. At only 21 years of age, the player knows that it is now or never to forge a substantial reputation and with the wealth of riches at the Catalan club and also in the reserves he does not feel that the club can offer him the chance to do this.
His father cited the youngsters need to play in the 2014 World Cup and claimed that: “Thiago has the quality to succeed at Barcelona but he would play a lot more at another club. He’d get into any other team in the world.”
The player would be available for around £15 million and could even be willing to compromise on his wage packet in order to secure a move to another top club.
