It’s another night of Capital One Cup action in the Football Transfer Tavern and a big group of Manchester United fans have arrived to soak up the pre-match atmosphere ahead of their clash against Stoke City.
Regular in the bar and Metro journalist Jamie Sanderson has now called the group over to the bar while taking a stool and claims that United are plotting a January offer for Ajax contract rebel Stefano Denswil.
Sanderson explains that the 20-year-old Netherlands Under-21 star is regarded as one of the most promising talents in Dutch football after firmly establishing himself at the Amsterdam Arena this season.
But the youngster is currently at a contract impasse with the Eredivisie champions over wage demands and this could see United swooping for the central defender as they look to advantage of his contract row.
Ajax insist that a deal will be reached, but now that the Red Devils have reportedly entered the fray, Frank de Boer will face a tougher job convincing the highly rated defender that his future indeed lies with the Dutch giants.
David Moyes has had United representatives casting their eye over Denswil over the last few months with the United boss impressed with his mature attitude and pace on the pitch.
Sanderson states that he is likely to cost United around £5 million and it remains possible that the Premier League champions could loan him back to Ajax for the rest of the campaign to help sweeten the deal.
