Reflecting on a home defeat to West Bromwich Albion with a pint on a Sunday afternoon wasn’t a regular occurrence under Sir Alex Ferguson but under David Moyes United have suffered three league defeats already and are now eight points off Arsenal who lead the Premier League.

The former Everton manager has started his reign at Old Trafford in rotten fashion and will need a productive transfer window to appease the masses of United supporters who believe he is out of his depth.

Today’s Metro suggests that United are considering a bargain £6 million swoop for Barcelona starlet Sergi Roberto when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

United boss David Moyes is still on the lookout for another attack minded midfielder having failed to land either Cesc Fabregas or Ander Herrera in the summer.

And with Moyes admitted that he needs to make some high profile signings in January and some think he has been offered a solution to all his problems in the form of Spain Under-21 ace Roberto.

The pass master has 18 months left on his current contract with Barca but has struggled to make inroads into the first team, and has his agent has touted him around European clubs.

United have been informed that his preference is to move to Old Trafford, and Barca would do business for around £6 million.

Spurs have previously been linked with the cultured central midfielder, but despite his interest in English football, he only wants to play for a Champions League club which makes United favourites for his signature.

Is the youngster the sort of player Moyes should be targeting in the January transfer window? Let us know your thoughts below.
