Mail Online suggest that Manchester United with battle it out with Chelsea for the signature of Sevilla full back Alberto Moreno.
The 21-year-old, who would be eligible to feature in the Champions League this term, could be the subject of offers from the Premier League as both clubs try to find a new quality left back.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole and are understood to be primed to send Blues scout Mick Doherty to keep tabs on the youngster in the next few weeks before a possible January offer of around £20 million.
While David Moyes is eyeing up Moreno as a possible successor to Patrice Evra at Old Trafford, as the French defender’s contract expires at the end of the current season.
Moyes was hopeful of landing his former Everton player Leighton Baines when the window opened but this now appears uncertain with the Toffees desperate to keep hold of their star defender.
Real Madrid’s defender Fabio Coentrao is understood be another name on Moyes’ wish-list, after the Portuguese international struggled to earn a regular first team berth in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Instead both Premier League clubs could now turn to the youngster, who is believed to have a release clause of £25 million in his existing deal with the La Liga outfit.
