Daily Mail claim that the Red Devils made another rather embarrassing attempt at striking a last ditch transfer – this time in the form of Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder.
The club are known to be long-term fans of the Dutchman and have tried to land him several times before under Sir Alex Ferguson.
As one of our punters quips, if Fergie could not manage to land the player, quite why David Moyes thought he could is a mystery to us all!
Now Galatasaray Sporting Coordinator Bulunt Tulun has noted: “Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United two weeks ago but it was not accepted.
“There are several clubs that want him but just like we can’t let go of Burak [Yilmaz] we also have to keep hold of Sneijder.”
Clearly David Moyes tried to bring players into the club, yet for whatever reason did not manage to do so.
As anyone who has watched Sneijder over the last few years – especially during his treble winning season at Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho – knows exactly how talented he is.
United have dropped four points on the bounce after games against Chelsea and Liverpool and were looking to the transfer window in order to both boost the squad and also to send out a message.
As one of our punters quips, they certainly sent out a message, but quite if it was the message they intended it to be remains to be seen!
Will Manchester United get over their summer transfer window shame? Is Fellaini a good enough signing? Let us know your thoughts below.
