Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are amazed at the money they are paying their loaned out star, after the Mirror revealed Nani is returning to Old Trafford as the highest-paid reserve in the Premier League.
The winger has managed to turn around his career at Sporting Lisbon and it is expected Louis van Gaal is going to give him a chance because the Portuguese club cannot afford his wages.
This is not a surprise because United agreed to fund his £110,000-a-week deal whilst he was on loan, which allowed Marcos Rojo to move the other way for £16m last summer.
Not only are Lisbon miles away from funding his contract but there is no way they could also cough up the £12m to sign him permanently.
Nani, 28, will now leave the Red Devils with a £17m bill for the remainder of his contract – after David Moyes handed him a five year deal in 2013.
This leaves United slightly over crowded in the winger department with Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria and Adnan Januzaj, plus new £25m signing Memphis Depay, already at his disposal.
