Our landlord here in the Tavern cannot praise the experienced midfielder enough, and feels his presence will help aid the younger players in the squad to develop and mature as footballers.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has echoed the words of our landlord, and told the Express:

“He was my former captain with Philipp Lahm (at Bayern Munich) so I think he is off the pitch very influential and you can see it already now,” Van Gaal said.

“He has already accepted as a leading player and that is why also we have bought him from Bayern Munich and I believe in mixtures between youth and older players and he is an example for the young players so I am very happy with him.”

A couple of Manchester United fans over by the pool table here in the Tavern are deliberating the importance of Bastian Schweinsteiger, with them all agreeing that the German enforcer is one hell of a player, and he clearly has not lost any of his superb ability!
