Manchester United; not Chelsea, are likely to win long-term transfer chase

shawManchester United fans have had a disappointing season by their high standards but it could be about to get a lot better for the ones residing in the Football Transfer Tavern.

According to the Daily Star, their beloved Red Devils have pushed in front of all competitors and now stand at the front of the line when it comes to signing Luke Shaw.

The now senior England international left back has been an absolute revelation for Southampton this season and it’s unlikely that the south coast club will be able to hold on to him.

In January a move to Chelsea looked on the cards, especially when rumours surfaced that he was a boyhood Blues fan.

But it looks like Chelsea have been beaten off, along with Liverpool and Arsenal, by the Manchester club despite not yet having a manager ahead of next season.

It’s understood United had looked at other alternate transfer targets in case their bid fails, with Monaco youngster Layvin Kurzawa thought to be a viable back-up.

Either way it looks certain to be the end of French defender Patrice Evra’s time at the club with numerous big-money moves said to be on his lap.

Manchester United fans. Would the signing of Luke Shaw be a step in the right direction for your club? Let us know your thoughts below.
