Manchester United fans are preparing for their Capital One Cup clash with Stoke City here in the Football Transfer Tavern, but the Daily Mail has some pretty good news for them.
The publication claims that David Moyes may well be about to land one of his top targets when the January transfer window opens.
The manager has tried and failed to land a host of players, and his big buy from the summer, Marouane Fellaini, has failed to settle into life at Old Trafford.
Now however, a massive transfer boost has been handed to the club after Borussia Dortmund admitted that they may well have to consider letting Marco Reus go.
For the right price – around £30 million – United may be able to land the player, who is concerned about the decline in BVB’s fortunes, as the demolition of their successful squad continues.
Jurgen Klopp has already had to deal with the likes of Mario Gotze leaving for arch rivals Bayern Munich and the imminent departure of Robert Lewandowski is weighing heavily on the minds of fans and the staff alike.
Now Moyes has caught wind of Reus’ unhappiness at the situation, he is set to go all out on a charm offensive to convince the player that Manchester United is the club for him.
Reus will not be short of suitors, all of whom are willing to meet the valuation placed on his head by BVB, meaning Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor has his work cut out.
Do Manchester United stand a realistic chance of luring Marco Reus to Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts below.
