Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot believe what they are hearing after the Daily Star Sunday revealed that they plotting a swoop for Bayern Munich duo Robert Lewandowski and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
These two would fit the bill perfectly at Old Trafford because throughout the season they have lacked balance in midfield and a leading striker, with Wayne Rooney being played deeper at times.
Lewandowski showed how lethal he was in the Champions League against City whilst Schweinsteiger is seen as one of best midfielders in the world, up there with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
But Pep Guardiola is unsure whether or not they are a vital of his future plans and if he can sell the pair for good money, then he may be tempted to offload them.
Schweinsteiger may be 30 but he still has a lot of football left in him and his experience could prove vital should Louis van Gaal’s side be challenging for the title next season.
As our landlord quips, Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world, and any team who has him leading the line will stand a good chance for the title!
