Some good news for Manchester United fans from within The Football Transfer Tavern – it looks like Ed Woodward is edging the Red Devils close to another major summer signing, in the form of Argentinian first choice goal keeper Sergio Romero, this is according to reports from The Guardian.
The keeper who featured in last year’s World Cup Final in Rio is also being chased by Italian outfit Roma. Permanently of Sampdoria, Romero spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, and has much more to give in his career; at 28, he has to be considered still young for his position.
With the speculation surrounding the departure of Victor Valdes, coupled with the uncertainty over the future of David De Gea, whose rumoured moved to Real Madrid refuses to go way, the signing of an experienced goalkeeper would surely be welcomed by all Old Trafford faithful. It could well be likely that Romero would find himself first-choice keeper next season, if he does make a big money move.
Some Red Devils here in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to get the Argentine on board to ease fears of keeper crisis, do you think Romero could fill the gap if De Gea leaves? What do you think he could bring to the side? Let us know your thoughts on the matter below!
