Manchester United supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are pretty flabbergasted at the news they are reading in the Express (via Don Balon) – with the publication claiming that the Red Devils are planning a £50 million bid for Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.
The Dutch winger is of course a former teammate of current United star Bastian Schweinsteiger, and it seems that Louis van Gaal is keen to reunite the pair in January.
Our landlord pulling some pints over at the bar here in the Tavern feels that this would be a major bit of business, and would undoubtedly enhance United’s midfield options – but feels spending £50m on a 31-year-old is a bit over the top!
Our resident Manchester United fans enjoying an ale over by the open fire here in the Tavern, feel that Robben would add another element of quality to the United team, with them all agreeing he could help mentor Memphis Depay, and turn him into a real superstar.
The 31-year-old is renowned for his supreme dribbling abilities, speed and accurate left foot long range shots, and he would certainly add something different to the Premier League.
Manchester United fans…… Should you fork out £50m on Robben? Or is that too expensive? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
