Manchester United plot double raid on Premier League outfit

Luke ShawHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we are expecting a busy summer at Old Trafford.

David Moyes is fully expected to begin his squad rebuild and Anthony Chapman from The Express has news of a possible double raid by the Red Devils.

Chapman suggests that United are preparing a bid to land Southampton’s young England stars Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.

The St. Mary’s duo have both been in sparkling form for Mauricio Pochettino’s team this term and both have been rewarded with call-ups to the England setup.

We fully expect Lallana to be on the plane to Brazil and it seems that Shaw, who has also been in sensational form this season, could follow him instead of veteran Ashley Cole.

There is little doubt that Lallana would be an excellent addition to Moyes’ team; his creativity, guile and versatility are all features that United currently lack in their sour midfield.

While the 18-year-old Shaw has been outlined an ideal replacement for Patrice Evra in the Red Devils outfit although Chelsea are also thought to be keeping a close watch on his future.

It is likely that the south coast would want close to £40 million for the pair who are both under long-term contracts at St. Mary’s especially if they both make Hodgson’s England squad.

Do you think that United stand a genuine chance of landing the Saints duo? How much do you think they are worth together? Let us know your thoughts below.
