Manchester United plot January swoop for Real Madrid man

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are wondering who their next marquee signing will be. Over the past couple of seasons, they have landed a number of players including Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku. But Jose Mourinho wants more.

According to a report by The Express on Sunday, Manchester United will make a sensational swoop in an attempt to sign Gareth Bale this month. Bale could be offloaded by Real Madrid as they look to other players and Manchester United have been well documented long term admirers of the former Spurs man.

The Wales international has spent a lot of time out injured in the past couple of seasons, prompting Real Madrid to lose a bit of faith in him and they are ready to sell him in order to buy Eden Hazard or Neymar in the summer transfer window.

Bale has been at Real Madrid since 2013 when he joined from Tottenham Hotspur and the versatile man is able to play on the wing, in the centre or even at left back. The 28-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and looks like he might be available either in January or in the summer.

It appears that Manchester United will try to snap him up sooner rather than later though.

Landlord’s verdict

Bale would be a superb signing for Manchester United, especially if they offload Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But this rumour seems to resurface every window. I would take it with a pinch of salt until there is actually a bid placed for him.
