Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are about to make Manchester Evening News their favourite publication should their claim about the Red Devils be true.
The publication has claimed that Louis van Gaal and his board are prepared to make a £63 million bid for James Rodriguez in order to blow their rivals for the Monaco star out of the water.
As one of our punters notes, James has been the true star of the World Cup – not Lionel Messi – and we think that a move for the Colombian international would certainly bring a smile to the faces of fans and indeed light up the Premier League in the process.
Our landlord moves over to the pool table and admits that whilst James may not think the Premier League is for him just yet, money certainly talks and a bid like that may be too much for Ligue 1 giants Monaco to turn down.
Should a bid for James fail, there is still Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, although as we note, that would pave the way for Los Blancos to buy James.
Manchester United fans. Would this be a dream come true? Would you rather sign Di Maria? Let us know your thoughts below.
