There is some good news for Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern according to the Sun on Sunday.
The publication have claimed that Danny Welbeck will be offered a new deal at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils had been considering possibly letting the England international forward leave this summer – and under former manager David Moyes, Welbeck would have pushed for that to happen.
However, the board are now willing to fight for the Manchester-born striker and it seems that a new contract – and a new start – will be offered under Louis van Gaal.
The England international currently has two years left on his deal that is worth around £75,000 per week -and United have told him that his future is one that they are immediately concerned with sorting out.
Of course it looks like being a busy summer for the player who is set to be on the plane as part of Roy Hodgson’s England squad going to Brazil and we think that negotiations may well have to wait until the tournament is over!
Do you think United are right to offer Welbeck a new deal or will he always be a third choice forward behind their star duo of Rooney and RVP? Let us know your thoughts below.
