It’s happy hour in the Football Transfer Tavern and that has seen a number of journalists letting their hair down after the end of the working week.
One such journalist is Jack Wilson from the Daily Star who, after taking advantage of the two for one offer at the bar, takes a seat to claim that Manchester United are set to sign Valencia midfielder Ever Banega in the summer.
The 25-year-old Argentinean international is ready to depart the Mestalla after his side suffered another disappointing start to the season.
The La Liga club are now understood to be prepared to see him leave for around £20 million as they look ease cash worries in the summer.
Banega, who has also been targeted by Arsenal and Southampton in the past, sees his contract expire in 2015 and that is likely to encourage the Spanish outfit to cash in before potentially losing him on a free transfer.
The news has pleased United punters in the bar who believe that David Moyes has been chasing the talented midfielder for some time as the former Everton boss looks to strengthen his central area in the near future.
Previously United have failed to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and then Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera, but these latest reports indicate that Moyes may have finally got his man.
Is this the player United need to solve their midfield issues? Let us know your thoughts below.
