Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have sat up and are taking note at the claim from Metro who think that the club are set to make a final bid for their top target.
Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for the majority of the summer and now after seeing initial bids rejected, David Moyes is prepared to go in one final time and make an offer for the former Arsenal man – an offer that he thinks will be too good for the Catalan Giants to refuse.
Of course Barcelona are set to appoint a new coach after the departure of Tito Vilanova and that puts the future of Cesc into some doubt.
As we all know with a new coach, players who were on their way out could well be handed a final minute reprieve and vice versa.
However, as one of our punters quips, Xavi and Iniesta will be going nowhere soon, leaving Fabregas on the bench yet again and given this is World Cup year, that is something the player cannot afford to allow to happen.
United are willing to make a bid of around £35 million, far more than their former record for then Tottenham forward Dimitar Berbatov and will not go any higher for the midfielder despite how much Moyes wants to land him.
Will £35 million be enough to land Fabregas? Let us know your thoughts below.
