Deadline day is all about the last minute deals in the Football Transfer Tavern and today is no different as Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini looks set to join Manchester United after handing a transfer request in at Goodison Park.
Mail Online report that the Belgian international is now on the way to Old Trafford after telling Toffees manager Roberto Martinez that he wants to leave as David Moyes desperately tries to get the transfer completed before tonight’s deadline.
Speculation increased after it was revealed that Fellaini had been given permission to delay linking up with the Belgian squad, while the 25-year-old’s representative and long time family confidant flew over on Friday to join him along with a FIFA-registered agent should an offer be accepted by Everton.
However United won’t be signing left back Leighton Baines tonight after Everton managed to fend off Moyes from the England international.
Moyes is also fighting to complete a £30.5 million deal to bring Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera to Old Trafford before the deadline passes tonight. United representatives are currently at the La Liga offices in Spain as they try to put together an extremely complex transfer for the 22-year-old.
The Premier League champions will have to hand/fax the transfer through by 11 pm tonight but the finer details can be pushed out until 12 pm with some United fans in the tavern hopeful of seeing the transfer ratified in time.
Interesting reports from Metro suggest that United have already seen a massive £40 million bid turned down for Real Madrid’s midfielder Sami Khedira. United could yet return with an improved offer and the tavern is buzzing with the latest news.
