Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the latest striker reports over a few pints, as they prepare for a crucial Champions League clash this evening.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato state Louis Van Gaal is ‘desperate’ to secure Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez, a player he previously managed during his time with Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old German international is currently on-loan with Turkish outfit Besiktas and has been in fine form, scoring nine goals in 13 matches already this season.
That tally is higher than any Manchester United player has achieved so far and Van Gaal is keen to add the German to his squad in January, as he looks to bolster his attacking options after three consecutive matches without finding the net.
A draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend saw them slip-up in the title race, now trailing Arsenal and Manchester City by four points, as they sit fourth in the Premier League- a position the Red Devils are keen to improve upon in the coming weeks.
United fans, would Mario Gomez be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below!
