According to The Daily Star new Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is ready to break the bank to secure PSG striker Edinson Cavani.
Reports suggest the Dutchman could be prepared to make a record breaking bid of £56million to Paris St Germain in order to convince them to sell.
The Parisians president had previously ruled out any possibility that the Uruguay international would be leaving the club in the summer.
But rumours suggest that Cavani is growing frustrated of living in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shadow with the 27-year-old having spent too much time shafted to the wide positions last season.
Cavani is to hold talks with the French Champions before a decision on his future is made, but the lure of Manchester United could prove too strong.
But the Red Devils will have to wait until after the World Cup has finished to secure a deal that would break Fernando Torres’ British transfer record of £50 million when he swapped Anfield Stadium for Stamford Bridge back in January 2011.
