Manchester United readying major swoop for Schweinsteiger’s former teammate

Mario GomezManchester United supporters have sprung into life here in the Transfer Tavern after reading the news from Talksport (Via Fanatik) – with the publication claiming that the Red Devils are planning a swoop for Besiktas striker Mario Gomez.

The German striker is most well known for his time spearheading the Bayern Munich attack, and the 30-year-old could be set to reunite with former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford in January.

Our resident Manchester United supporters here in the Transfer Tavern simply do not know what to make of this transfer rumour, and admit he is a lethal goalscorer, but at the age of 30, he could be a bit past his best.

United manager Louis van Gaal has worked with Mario Gomez in the past, and this is something our landlord here in the Tavern feels is extremely beneficial. Our landlord says that Gomez would feel way more settled, subsequently meaning he will be able to hit the ground running a lot quicker.

A couple of United supporters over by the open fire in the Tavern are completely against this idea, and feel the club need to be signing players who are in the prime of the their career, rather than players who are arguably past their best!

Manchester United fans….. What do you think? Would you like to see Gomez at Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts and opinions below!
