Manchester United fans are sitting at the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern nursing a couple of sore heads after their loss yesterday, but the claim from the Daily Express could well provide some good news — finally.
The publication notes that the growing concerns that star forward Robin van Persie could be set to leave the club are rubbish – according to manager David Moyes that is.
The Red Devils have just lost successive home games for the first time since 2002, and it is fair to say things are not going as well as the club would have liked since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and arrival of new manager David Moyes.
When Moyes was faced with accusations that RVP had asked to leave the club, he responded by claiming: “That is absolute nonsense.
“I don’t know what harder or tougher word I could say but that’s as good as I’ve got.”
As our landlord points out before setting down a late Sunday roast in front of one of our regulars, he notes that whilst RVP was the star man last season, it is Wayne Rooney who has carried the club this term, and who has arguably been the best player at the club.
One of our punters jokes that if RVP can be convinced to stay and then copies the example and form set by Rooney there could well be silverwear at the club yet this season!
Will RVP ask for a move? Let us know your thoughts below.
