Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are still downing the pints in celebration of Romelu Lukaku’s transfer, and the party could soon be extended if Ivan Perisic also joins the club.
The Red Devils have reportedly had a second bid of £39 million for the player rejected by Inter, which hasn’t gone down well with Perisic himself who didn’t look best pleased in the latest team photo displayed on Inter’s instragram.
However, United are clearly interested and likely to continue their pursuit of the player who currently plays for Inter Milan and has done for the past two seasons.
The 28-year-old is reportedly keen to link up with Jose Mourinho to play Champions League football again after a four-year absence. However, current club captain Mauro Icardi is not best pleased at the transfer fiasco, telling Mediaset: “If he is not happy to stay here, then he has got to leave, like the coach has said.
“If he is happy, on the other hand, then he should stay. I think Ivan needs to work out what makes him happy and think about himself.”
Our landlord is keen to see the winger land at Old Trafford this summer and believes his international experience will be a valuable asset for the club.
He’s played 57 times for Croatia since 2011 and believes Champions League football will up his performance levels in time for next summer’s World Cup.
Perisic bagged 11 goals in 36 games last seasons and United fans in the Tavern are confident he can be just as effective for them as he has been for Inter.
